Our Mission
The mission of Green Wheel is to change the way that farmers irrigate crops by providing more efficient irrigation systems fuelled by renewable energy sources. Irrigation farming protects a region's food production from extreme weather conditions and helps increase food production by providing cops with a consistent water source. Green Wheel aims to replace existing diesel pumps with pumps fuelled by renewable energy, creating a more reliable, efficient and eco-friendly irrigation solution for East African and Middle Eastern agriculture companies. By improving the way in which crops are irrigated in East African and Middle Eastern countries Green Wheel’s goal is to facilitate change these region’s agriculture sectors and provide a boost to the region’s economies. The long term vision is to provide farmers worldwide with a subscription-based and sustainable solution to water irrigation.

The Challenge
In remote regions of Sudan, agriculture once relied on seasonal rains for irrigation and was subject to fluctuations in crop yield due to irregular rain patterns and frequent droughts. More recently this reliance on seasonal rains has been replaced by the implementation and use of diesel powered irrigation systems. Allowing farmers to leverage untapped water sources from wells and lakes to irrigate crops. This system is far from perfect however. The supply of diesel in The Sudan often falls short of the countries immense demand which results in inconsistent access to diesel and spikes in fuel prices. The diesel engines that power the water pumping systems are themselves also subject to regular component failures and prolonged down times for maintenance and repairs leading to inefficient irrigation and suboptimal crop yields. These issues coupled with the increase in required agriculture output caused by an steadily increasing population has left farmers in need of a new solution which will allow for consistent access to energy for irrigation and a more cost effective way to irrigate crops.
Project Solution
Green Wheel will take customers through every step of the solar pump procurement process, providing customers with the necessary information and expertise to ensure a smooth transition from and reliance on diesel pumps to a more sustainable solar irrigation solution. Through in-depth consultations, we will strive to gain a full understanding of each customer's individual needs and pump requirements. Engineers will identify the optimal solar pump for the water requirements of each farm and provide customers with an estimate for the payback period as well as the outlining the procurement process and a timeline for the installation process.
Through partnerships with the leading Solar pump producers in Europe, Green Wheel will provide access to cutting edge solar pump technology and will provide both installation and aftercare for every pump that is installed. Green Wheel will go beyond simply providing a solar pumps to customers. We aim to create an optimised procurement process for each customer by providing information and support throughout the installation process. Customers will then receive on-site maintenance for each of the pumps that we install. Utilising sensor data within each pump will allow for preemptive maintenance to take place on damaged components before they fail, reducing irrigation system down time. Customers will also gain access to an online report center where they can monitor soil moisture and temperature as well as weather and seed data.
Responsibility
Green Wheel is planning to dedicate 5% of its business profit towards the charitable donation to sustain the social impact in African countries by designing and offering solar systems to educational institutions in rural areas and the Advanced Solar Irrigation system to poor farmers. This 5% will maintain financial sustainability of the social benefit and impact of the project.
